The operation of China's textile industry from January to August 2023

From January to August 2023, the industrial added value of textile enterprises above designated size decreased by 2.8% year-on-year,and the operating income was 2,963.1 billion yuan, down by 4.2% year-on-year;The total profit was 87.1 billion yuan,down year-on-year 12.1 percent. The output of yarn, fabric and clothing by enterprises above designated size fell by 1.7percent, 4.6 percent and 4.6 percent respectively.The output of chemical fiber increased by 6.9 percent year on year. From January to August 2023, the total retail sales of consumer goods by units abovedesignated size in China reached 1,336.4 billion yuan, an increase of 5.9 percent year-on-year, of which the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats and textile products by units above designated size increased by 10.6 percent year-on-year,and the online retail sales of physical goods of wearing goods increased by 10.9 percent year-on-year.
